Charges Filed Against Truck Driver in Fatal Hit-and-Run Incident
On July 29, a report was received regarding an incident that occurred that same day at around 12:50. A truck, driven by a 27-year-old, struck three pedestrians on Acharyan Street in the town of Yerevan, near a bus stop.
As a result of the incident, a 75-year-old man and his 73-year-old wife, residents of Yerevan, died at the scene, while their 48-year-old son sought medical assistance.
Following the incident, the Investigative Committee of Armenia initiated a criminal case under the third part of Article 342 of the Criminal Code for road traffic offenses. An investigation has taken place at the scene, witnesses have been interviewed, and forensic examinations have been appointed.
Based on the evidence collected, charges were filed against the 27-year-old truck driver under the third part of Article 342 of the Criminal Code. As a precautionary measure, house arrest was applied combined with a bail condition of 1 million dram and a prohibition against leaving the country.
The investigation is ongoing. The condition of the injured 48-year-old is stated to be satisfactory.
