Zelensky Promises Ukrainians Support
Ukrainian authorities are preparing "solutions" to help the country address several energy supply issues as the heating season approaches. This was announced by Ukraine's leader, Volodymyr Zelensky, on his X social media page (formerly Twitter).
“We are preparing solutions that will help survive the heating season more safely and provide people with more opportunities to endure this very difficult period in terms of energy supply, deficits, and outages,” he stated.
The Ukrainian president added that he expects assistance from Western allies in this regard. On June 16, Dmitry Sakharuk, the CEO of the Ukrainian energy holding DTEK, announced that Kyiv aims to restore at least half of the thermal power plant capacity before the heating season. According to him, restoring the power would require $350-400 million, mainly for the purchase of transformers, turbines, and generators.
Earlier, two energy facilities in Ukraine were reported to have been damaged.
