‘B. Galstanyan is Maximally Trying to Imitate What Was Done and Said in 2018’: Alen Simonyan
The President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, writes: ‘By the way, have you noticed that the new opposition movement has begun to avoid talking about Artsakh in every possible way? The Artsakh flags have disappeared from the gatherings, and even if they occasionally appear, they are quickly removed. Even B. Galstanyan’s slogan, who has frozen his ecclesiastical activities, would have been much more logical if it included words like Armenian, Armenia, homeland, and Artsakh, but instead, the word God has been chosen.
Now the opposition, which accused us of denying Artsakh, has left nothing on its agenda regarding Artsakh. However, it’s not like they have brought a new agenda; in a few words, the agenda is: ‘Oh, may snow fall on your head, this is a struggle for expectations, but we expect a meeting, we are not black, we are white - white as in white clothes, but now we are violet, kiss my paw, let’s pray.’
Indeed, it is an invulnerable agenda. Another absurdity is that B. Galstanyan is maximally trying to imitate what was done and said in 2018, believing that revolution and power change are like a LEGO constructor - you just need to stick the right parts together to get what you want. But besides that, B. Galstanyan is precisely repeating all the mistakes made by the opposition during previous decades. One moment, he says the regime is in panic, and then leads people in the streets of Yerevan, insults the police, makes promises, gets excited, encourages, and laughs out of despair, so that those around him think ‘perhaps he knows something.’ This is so familiar, I’m telling you.
P.S. A person with expectations of the position of Prime Minister of Armenia must first renounce Canadian citizenship, not just shrink away, although I believe that being a citizen of another country does not hinder becoming a catholicos, if I’m not mistaken.’
