Bus Traveling from Georgia to Moscow Collides with KAMAZ, Resulting in Fatalities and Injuries
A road traffic accident that occurred in the Stavropol region has resulted in five fatalities, as reported by the regional prosecutor's office and the State Road Safety Inspectorate on August 30.
The incident took place on Sunday night at the 3rd kilometer of the "Caucasus" federal highway, near the Inozemtsevo village of the city of Zheleznovodsk. According to preliminary information, the driver of the "Setra" passenger bus that was traveling from Georgia to Moscow was operating at an unsafe speed (that is, exceeding the limit), failed to maintain a safe distance from the KAMAZ truck in front of him, and collided with it, causing the bus to veer off the road and into the ditch.
There were 43 individuals on the bus. Five of the injured individuals died at the scene due to their injuries. A total of 38 people (including 10 children) sustained injuries and were transferred to the hospital in Pyatigorsk.
The Zheleznovodsk prosecutor's office is conducting an investigation into the accident.
