Lavrov Explains Why the Foreign Ministry Wants to Remove the Taliban from Russia's List of Banned Organizations
The Taliban is a real governing authority in Afghanistan. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, explaining why the Russian Foreign Ministry finds it necessary to remove the Taliban from the list of banned groups.
"They are the real authority. We are not indifferent to Afghanistan," Lavrov told reporters.
Today, on May 27, it was revealed that the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Justice have presented their position to President Vladimir Putin, proposing to remove the Taliban from the list of banned organizations. It should be noted that the Taliban was recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia in March 2003, according to a decision by the Supreme Court. On August 15, 2021, the movement seized power in Afghanistan.
