Journalist Who Lost Consciousness Due to Police Actions is Recognized as Victim, Lawyer Says
The journalist of 24News, Meri Manukyan, has been recognized as a victim. This was announced by Ruben Melikyan, a member of the '5 Human Rights Defenders Initiative', on his Facebook page, accompanied by a photo. 'In the morning, we visited the investigative body with 24News journalist Meri Manukyan, were recognized as victims in the criminal proceedings initiated over the May 13 incident, were questioned appropriately, and then referred for expert medical examination and inspected accordingly. P.S. The proceedings have been initiated on the grounds of abuse of official position (Article 441), but in our opinion, there is another criminal composition - obstructing journalistic activities (Article 237),' Melikyan wrote.
It is noteworthy that on May 13, several officers from the special police unit and a police officer from the patrol service used violence against 24News journalist Meri Manukyan, causing her to lose consciousness, after which she was hospitalized.
