Student Strike is a Permissible Action: Human Rights Defenders Ready to Provide Free Legal Assistance, Melikyan
Human rights defender Ruben Melikyan writes:
“Dear students,
A student strike is a traditional and permissible form of collective protest, protected by the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia and international legal documents. In a short timeframe (for example, one week), it cannot result in any negative consequences for a student.
We announce that we will provide free legal assistance to all students who face penalties for organizing a strike or other peaceful acts of disobedience.
At the same time, we state that threatening students participating in the strike or forcing them to either not carry out the strike or stop it is unlawful; therefore, we advise recording such incidents.
We remind you of our 24-hour hotline phone number: 095088787.
Initiative of the 'Five Human Rights Defenders',” Melikyan wrote.
