Kiran at Today: Law Enforcement on Duty
Large numbers of police forces and riot police are on duty today in Kiran. The law enforcement agencies have blocked only the sections leading from the village to the delineated areas towards Kheyrimli. This was reported by 'Azatutyun'.
In essence, the villagers do not have access to their plots of land, for which they have property certificates obtained 20 years ago. Yesterday, a resident named Rafik Apoyan was prohibited from approaching his garden; however, after some clarifications today, both we and the resident were allowed to bypass the NSS operatives and enter the garden.
When asked by 'Azatutyun' what actions the police are undertaking in the Kiran area today, law enforcement officers did not respond. They stated that they are preventing possible road blockades by protesters, noting that if such attempts are made, they will stop those actions even if it requires the use of force.
Yesterday, the police announced that the roads leading to the village were closed to facilitate demining work, but it is still unclear in which specific areas demining has been carried out and whether demarcation work has also been done.
Reports indicate that the situation in the village is calm today. Police forces are stationed at the entrance road to the village, while a small group of local residents has gathered. The opposition and clergymen, who have been in the area for several days, have not made any statements yet.
