Jerusalem Police Arrest 16 People at Al-Aqsa Mosque: Reason Revealed
The Jerusalem district police have arrested 16 individuals during the morning prayer at the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount, for allegedly inciting terrorism. According to reports from RIA Novosti, this information was confirmed by the police press service.
"The Jerusalem district police arrested 16 suspects in the Old City near the Temple Mount overnight, on suspicion of inciting terrorism and supporting terrorism," the statement said.
It is noted that the agitated worshippers were shouting slogans and setting off fireworks. Most of the arrested individuals were young people from East Jerusalem and Northern Israel, with one being from the city of Nablus on the western bank of the Jordan River.
The police added that thousands of worshippers participated in the 'Laylat al-Qadr' prayer, dedicated to the conclusion of the sacred month of Ramadan for Muslims.
