Cameras to Be Installed in Yerevan Kindergartens, Says Avinyan
All kindergartens operating under the Yerevan Municipality will be equipped with cameras. Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan issued this directive during an operational meeting today.
"All kindergartens must be equipped with cameras that should be accessible to several individuals. The municipality must be assured that we have a favorable environment for children in kindergartens," he stated.
It is noteworthy that in December 2023, videos circulated on social media showing educators engaging in violence against children. One video depicted a private kindergarten educator striking a child in the face, while another captured sounds of adults yelling at children.
In early January 2024, the municipality announced that of the 162 kindergartens affiliated with the Yerevan Municipality, cameras had been installed in 41. The cameras are positioned in common areas such as entrances, hallways, and lobbies.
