Displaced Persons from Artsakh to Receive 9 More Months of Social Support
Displaced individuals from Artsakh will receive social support for an additional 9 months. The Armenian government has approved a draft decision regarding this initiative. Approximately 21,000 people who were displaced to Armenia before September 19, 2023, will also benefit from this program.
The rationale behind the project indicates that 50,000 drams in support will be distributed among 106,000 individuals, with a total expenditure of 47.7 billion drams from the state budget.
“We are expanding the scope. Individuals displaced after 2020 will also become eligible beneficiaries; their number is about 6,000. Additionally, there have been cases where new children have been born in families after their displacement, raising the question of whether these children should also be considered beneficiaries. With this regulation, we are including them as well,” explained Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan.
