Ten Children Die of Starvation in Gaza Hospital
In the Kamal Adwan Hospital in the Gaza Strip, ten children have died from starvation. This was announced by Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO).
He noted that WHO representatives visited the Al-Awda and Kamal Adwan hospitals located in the northern Gaza Strip over the weekend. They reported serious levels of malnutrition, as well as a lack of fuel, food, and medicine.
“These visits were the first since early October 2023, despite WHO’s efforts to ensure more regular access to northern Gaza,” Ghebreyesus explained on X.
He stated that Kamal Adwan is the only pediatric hospital in northern Gaza, which is “overwhelmed with patients.”
“The lack of food has led to the deaths of ten children. The absence of electricity poses severe risks for patient care, especially in critical areas like the intensive care unit and neonatal department,” the WHO chief said.
He described the situation at Al-Awda Hospital as “especially horrific, as one of the buildings has been destroyed.”
