19 casualties in combat, 64 in non-combat conditions: Report of the Armed Forces of Armenia
According to the report on the implementation and results of the Government’s program (2021-2026) for the year 2023, it is noted that during 2023, 19 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Armenia were killed in combat conditions, while 64 died in non-combat situations. During the year, three servicemen were captured and subsequently returned.
In the Global Firepower international analytical company's military power ranking, Armenia ranks 94th out of 145 countries, an improvement from 97th place out of 140 in 2022.
In the Global Peace Index published by the Institute for Economics and Peace, Armenia stands at 66th place out of 163 countries, significantly better than its 83rd place in the 2022 report. In this metric, Armenia is a leader in the South Caucasus region, and ranks 2nd in the Russia and Eurasia region. The state of peace in Armenia is assessed as 'average.'
