Bus Lanes to Become Accessible for Electric Scooters and Bicycles

In Yerevan, dedicated bus lanes will become accessible for electric scooters and bicycles. This was announced today by the Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, during a city council meeting, in response to a question about what measures the municipality plans to take to prevent mopeds and electric scooters from causing road accidents.

Referring to mopeds, the mayor urged motorists to be a bit more cautious and tolerant towards them. According to him, motorcycle and moped riders have also expressed concerns that drivers in Yerevan do not yield to them at all.

“But I am not sure that the issue is so extreme that we need to impose restrictions on mopeds. On the contrary, I believe they are mainly the ones at risk, and they are the primary victims in collisions with cars,” he said.

Tigran Avinyan noted that they plan to study the experiences of developed cities.
