I Do Not Find Cultural Venues to Be the Best Places for Funerals: Andreasyan

I do not find cultural venues to be the best places for funerals. This was stated by Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan during a press briefing following a government session today.

It is noteworthy that an initiative had been launched on Facebook, demanding that the last rites for Gagik Ginosyan, the founder and artistic director of the ‘Karin’ traditional song and dance group, a distinguished figure in Armenian culture and a participant in the Artsakh war, be held at the National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet, with his final resting place either in the Pantheon named after Komitas or in Yerablur.

“I believe cultural institutions should be kept as free as possible from such matters, with all due respect to any individual. This has nothing to do with any particular person; I do not find that they are the best places to organize a funeral,” said Zhanna Andreasyan.
