Norwegian King Harald V Has Passed Away at 89
The King of Norway, Harald V, has passed away at the age of 89. According to a statement from the Norwegian royal family, King Harald V died on August 28 at 06:35 AM in a hospital.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of His Majesty King Harald,” the royal family's statement said.
In recent days, the King’s health had deteriorated significantly. He had been receiving treatment for a blood condition at Oslo University Hospital for approximately 10 days. The royal palace had assessed his condition as “extremely serious.”
Family members gathered at the hospital, while citizens in Oslo brought flowers to the royal palace in tribute. King Harald V had occupied the Norwegian throne since 1991 and was the oldest reigning monarch in Europe.
