Georgian President Called a Foreign Agent After Parliamentary Speech
Georgia's parliamentary member from the "People's Power" movement, Sozar Subari, has accused the country's leader Salome Zurabishvili of enmity towards her own nation following her speech in parliament, where she spent much of the time criticizing the authorities and stating the need for change. This was reported by the Imedi television channel.
"I cannot call Salome Zurabishvili's speech critical; it was a hostile address against the country. This was not the speech of the President of Georgia; it was the speech of a foreign agent," Subari stated. He also qualified Zurabishvili's repeated and conscious violations of the Constitution of Georgia as an expression of hostility towards the country.
“When the President of the country goes abroad or says during meetings with foreign partners in Georgia that Georgia does not deserve to join the European Union and to obtain candidate status, that is hostility,” the parliament member emphasized.
Earlier, Salome Zurabishvili had accused the ruling "Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia" party of engaging in "anti-Western propaganda" and establishing close ties with Russia. The President of Georgia expressed her opinion that the ruling party's strategy is based on a series of provocations, including the restoration of air communication with Russia and the entry of a Russian cruise ship into Batumi.
