Paris Police Arrest 18 Farmers
The French police have arrested 18 individuals near the Rangis food market in the outskirts of Paris and seized their tractors, reports Europe 1 radio.
"Eighteen farmers have been taken into custody for 'obstructing traffic,'" media outlets report.
It is reported that the farmers were near Europe’s largest food market, Rangis, located 7 kilometers south of Paris. Earlier, farmers’ unions had announced plans to stage a so-called 'blockade' of the market to pressure the government for new support measures for farmers.
Farmers organized blockades on all eight major routes leading to Paris.
