Hamas Willing to Negotiate Release of Captive Women and Children, WSJ
The Palestinian Hamas movement has announced its readiness to negotiate with Israel regarding the release of captive civilian women and children. This information has been reported by the Wall Street Journal, citing Egyptian officials.
It is noted that this initiative marks a significant shift for Hamas, which for several weeks has insisted that it would only negotiate on the hostage issue within the framework of a comprehensive agreement for a ceasefire.
“Israeli officials have conveyed to their Egyptian and Qatari counterparts that they remain skeptical about any potential progress in the negotiations, but are willing to continue discussing the basic principles of a possible deal,” the newspaper reports.
