Illegal Drug Trafficking Increased by 2,354: Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Provides Details
In Armenia, during the first eleven months of 2023, a noticeable increase in various types of crimes has been observed, with the exception of murder cases, which have decreased compared to the same period in 2022. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Aram Hovhannisyan, during a press conference summarizing the year 2023.
From January to November 2023, a total of 35,052 criminal cases were recorded in the country, an increase of 1,771 cases (5.3%). In the same period in 2022, 33,281 cases were recorded.
The number of murders has decreased by 7 (52 cases were recorded in 2022, while 45 in 2023). Cases of fraud have increased by 342, and violations of traffic rules have increased by 226. The number of illegal drug trafficking cases, considered more latent, has increased by 2,354, while illegal trafficking of weapons and ammunition has increased by 300 cases, and bribery cases have risen by 340 cases,” noted Hovhannisyan.
