Alan Simonyan on Hajiyev's Statement: 'We Can Consider Such an Approach'

National Assembly President Alan Simonyan believes that the issue of delimitation between Armenia and Azerbaijan can be separated from the peace treaty under discussion and addressed separately. He made this statement during a briefing with reporters at the National Assembly, while commenting on the statement by Aliyev's assistant Hikmet Hajiyev, which indicated that the issue of borders should be detached from the peace treaty.

“We can consider such an approach, because it may take much longer in terms of time, possibly even years. A country genuinely pursuing peace would see no obstacles in such matters. I do believe that after fixing certain issues, concluding a peace treaty, and bringing a peaceful atmosphere to the societies, such a scenario is possible,” stated Simonyan.

It should be noted that at the “Silk Road” conference held in Georgia, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan proposed to implement the “Peace Crossroads” project in the region. He emphasized that this project would ensure that each party provides border and customs control on its territory. Additionally, each party is responsible for ensuring the security of communications (referring to pipelines, cables, roads, and air transport routes) as well as the safe passage of goods.
