Lukashenko: Conflict Between Armenia and Azerbaijan Could Have Been Avoided
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated that the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan could have been avoided. He recalled an offer made to the Armenian leadership at the time to transfer several regions of Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan in exchange for a compensation of five billion dollars.
“At that time, I publicly proposed to Aliyev and Sargsyan, ‘Let’s go this way.’ If they had done it, there wouldn’t even have been a reason for this war to start. Everything would have been agreed upon. Why didn’t they do it then? Is it better for Armenia? No. It isn’t easy for Azerbaijan either,” said Lukashenko, praising Ilham Aliyev.
