Nikol Pashinyan Issues Strict Warning to Customs Service
Today, on November 30, during a cabinet meeting, PM Nikol Pashinyan announced that recent incidents have been uncovered where certain employees of the customs service have fabricated documents indicating that vehicles with Georgian license plates have exited and re-entered the Republic of Armenia.
“This has been done to reset the one-year term and start it over. Furthermore, those attempting to use these services are not particularly socially disadvantaged, to put it mildly. This is a very strict warning to the customs service and the head of the State Revenue Committee to closely monitor these matters to ensure compliance with ethical standards,” he stated.
It is worth noting that during today's cabinet meeting, a decision was made requiring Armenian citizens to deposit money into a designated account managed by the customs authorities for vehicles imported for temporary use from Georgia or countries that are not members of the EAEU, starting January 1, 2024.
