In Which Case Will Putin Seek Peace?
Putin will not seek peace with Ukraine until after the November 2024 U.S. presidential elections. This was stated by a senior representative of the U.S. State Department, speaking to reporters following a NATO foreign ministers' meeting in Brussels. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity, and their comments were quoted by Reuters.
"I expect that Putin will not establish peace or meaningful peace until he sees the results of our elections," the official noted. It is indicated that there are concerns in the U.S. that a potential victory for former President Donald Trump in the elections could disrupt Western support for Kyiv.
Trump, who is vying for reelection in 2024, has previously criticized American support for Ukraine in the war against Russia.
