Polish Hauliers' Protest Continues: 50 km Jam at Polish-Ukrainian Border
Due to the protests by Polish hauliers, the traffic jam at the Ukraine-Poland border has reached nearly 50 kilometers. A massive queue of trucks has also formed on the Slovak side of the border, in front of the 'Vyšné Nemecké' checkpoint.
'Due to restrictions on the entry of freight transport from Poland to Ukraine, this type of transportation is now moving through Slovakia,' reported the police department of the Košice region (Eastern Slovakia).
Polish hauliers are protesting against the privileges granted to Ukrainian carriers that do not meet European standards and are demanding a limited number of commercial permits be set for them.
Earlier, Polish transport operators had blocked car checkpoints on the border with Ukraine in Hrubieszów, Dorohusk, and Korczew. A tragedy has already occurred, with the driver of a Ukrainian truck dying in the massive queue.
