French Troops Begin to Leave Niger
The first French military personnel are leaving Niger, according to an AFP report citing the French armed forces' general staff. The withdrawal of French troops is ongoing as planned, with approximately 1,400 French soldiers stationed in Niger.
On Monday, the National Council for the Salvation of the Fatherland (Niger's interim government) announced that the withdrawal of French troops from the country would commence on October 10.
