Two individuals are facing charges for attempting to smuggle approximately €956,400 from Germany to Armenia. This information was reported by the Armenian Investigative Committee.

According to the Committee's data, on May 30, 2026, a Dutch citizen identified as S.N. and an Armenian citizen M.N., acting in preliminary agreement, transported the cash without declaring it in customs.

The money, equivalent to around 397 million AMD, was packaged in various labeled envelopes and hidden in different sections of clothing in their luggage.

Customs officials discovered the entire sum during a customs inspection, and it was seized. Criminal prosecution has been initiated against the two individuals for smuggling cash in particularly large amounts as part of an organized group.

One of the defendants has been arrested, while administrative supervision has been applied to the other. The seized €956,400 has been recognized as physical evidence to ensure its potential confiscation in the future.

The criminal proceedings have been sent to the supervising prosecutor with an accusatory conclusion for approval and for the case to be brought to court.
