‘Artsakh Armenians Open to Negotiations with Baku’: Paruyr Hovhannisyan
Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh could ideally live under Azerbaijani rule in a perfect world, but the real historical experience makes it hard to envision, said Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Paruyr Hovhannisyan to Reuters.
Hovhannisyan emphasized the need for international mechanisms to ensure the security of Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh. He also mentioned that Artsakh Armenians are open to initiating negotiations with Baku, asserting that such dialogue is of crucial importance.
Regarding the recent discontent expressed from Armenia about its strategic ally and patron Russia not exerting enough pressure on Azerbaijan’s military ambitions, the Deputy Foreign Minister stated that Armenia has specific security agreements with Russia that are applicable in such situations.
