Bulgarian Parliament Lifts Grain Import Ban from Ukraine

The Bulgarian Parliament has voted in favor of lifting the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain after September 15.

“Bulgaria does not support the continuation of the emergency measure prohibiting the import of wheat, corn, and sunflower seeds from Ukraine after September 15, 2023,” the statement read.

A total of 129 deputies voted in favor of lifting the ban, while 69 voted against it, and 8 abstained.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov noted that this decision is expected to lead to a decrease in the prices of essential food products, which are among the government's top priorities.
