Former French President: 'Ukraine's NATO Membership is a Provocation in Russia's Eyes'
Ukraine's membership in NATO will not bring peace to Europe; Russia will see it as a provocation, believes former French President Nicolas Sarkozy. He made this statement during an appearance on BFMTV.
"The question is clear. Will Ukraine's membership in NATO contribute to peace or not? Can we at least discuss it? In my opinion, it will not lead to peace. Ukraine's membership in NATO is a provocation in Russia's eyes," said Sarkozy.
