Will Russia Defend Armenia in Case of an Attack? Peskov’s Response
Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov today addressed reporters' questions regarding whether Russia, as an ally, is ready to defend Armenia in the event of an attack on its territory.
“If we are talking about Armenia's territory, you know that we have obligations within the framework of the CSTO. However, you also know that after Armenia recognized Azerbaijan's territorial integrity within the borders of 1991, the circumstances there changed slightly, so this also needs to be taken into account. That was a decision made by Yerevan,” Peskov said.
