Israeli Supreme Court to Discuss Petition Against Judicial Reforms in September
The Israeli Supreme Court will discuss the petition against judicial reforms in September, reports Kan Radio.
Previously, the first law proposed by the Israeli government led by Benjamin Netanyahu regarding judicial reforms had been published in the report of a relevant parliamentary committee and came into effect. The document was approved by the Knesset (parliament) in a final reading on Monday.
On July 24, 64 members of the 120-seat parliament, representing the ruling coalition, voted in favor of the document. Meanwhile, 56 opposition parliamentarians boycotted the vote, resulting in the opposition announcing its intention to challenge the document in the Supreme Court of Justice.
