He is a political prisoner: Navalny on former FSB officer Igor Strelkov
Russian politician Alexei Navalny has stated that the arrest of former FSB officer Igor Strelkov is illegal.
“As long as he remains in detention due to these absurd and clearly politically motivated charges, he is a political prisoner,” Navalny declared.
According to him, Strelkov was arrested not for the July 2014 downing of the Malaysian Boeing in Donetsk region, but rather for an “imaginary and fabricated case regarding extremism.”
It is worth noting that nationalist Strelkov Girkin has been arrested in Moscow after publicly criticizing Russian President Vladimir Putin for the ineffective execution of the “special military operation” in Ukraine and failing to achieve its objectives. Girkin has been charged with making extremist calls, for which he could face up to five years in prison.
