Erdogan has violated his commitments to Russia: Deputy Speaker of the State Duma
The Deputy Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Pyotr Tolstoy, gave an interview to the Iranian Tasnim news agency. The Deputy Speaker stated that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has violated his commitments to Russia.
According to Tolstoy, Russian President Vladimir Putin has always fulfilled his obligations towards Turkey and hopes that Russian partners will do the same, but Erdogan has breached his commitments to Russia.
Commenting on Turkey's position regarding Ukraine's membership in NATO, the Deputy Speaker noted that Russia cannot positively accept this. “Vladimir Zelensky can join NATO by himself, but without Ukraine,” he added.
Earlier, Erdogan stated that Ukraine deserves to become a NATO member. He also addressed the recent agreement to restore ties between Iran and Saudi Arabia, to which Tolstoy responded: “We are very pleased that such an agreement has been reached. We have good relations with both Iran and Saudi Arabia.”
