No one will fight against us on behalf of Armenia; they must accept the realities - Aliyev

We have not lost hope that the sensible part of the population of Stepanakert and its surrounding areas will understand the unrealistic nature of Azerbaijan's disregard. And common sense will prevail. Otherwise, it is naive to think that some forces will come and fight against Azerbaijan on their behalf.

This statement was made by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev today, July 21, during a media forum held in the occupied city of Shushi. In his speech, Aliyev discussed the peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the post-war situation in the region, and the timelines for signing the peace agreement.

"No one will fight against us on behalf of them and instead of them in the territory of Azerbaijan. They need to understand and accept the realities. They have had several stages to confront and accept the reality. We were also told in the past 30 years to accept the realities of the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. But I did not accept it. I am telling them now: accept it. And any attempt to change those realities will not be in favor of either Armenia or the Armenian minority of Nagorno-Karabakh," said Aliyev.
