Seeing that the future of Karabakh is predetermined, Armenians are in 'hysteria,' Russian expert
The Director General of the Caspian Strategic Research Institute (Russia), expert Igor Korotchenko, has commented on Moscow-Baku relations and analyzed the developments in the region. He noted that Armenians are in 'hysteria,' allegedly seeing that the future of Karabakh is predetermined.
"They are sending letters to the entire international community with demands, conditions, complaints, and accusations that the international community accepts the 'murder' of Armenians. The goal is to prevent peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan and to ensure that no agreement is signed. Those who want 'revanchism' continuously put pressure on the Prime Minister of Armenia," he stated.
According to him, we are in a phase of acute development of the global geopolitical situation. "Everything is not easy, nor is it easy in the South Caucasus. The situation must be assessed calmly. The basis of Moscow and Baku's relations is the declaration on allied cooperation. We have excellent relations with the leaders. Objectively, Azerbaijan could have long returned control over the remaining part of Karabakh. But the Azerbaijani leader, as an excellent diplomat, perfectly understands the situation and the consequences that such a step could entail.
First, there is a trilateral declaration signed by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, which clearly states the timelines for the deployment of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Karabakh. Second, when making any decision, everything must be calculated to avoid harming our friendly relations. There is responsible understanding in both Moscow and Baku. Unfortunately, it does not exist in either Yerevan or among the Armenian separatists in Karabakh," Korotchenko said.
