Installation of the Lachin Border Checkpoint is Azerbaijan's Sovereign Right: Bayramov

Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov received the new Russian Ambassador Mikhail Evdokimov in Baku yesterday. This was reported by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

Both sides noted that the development of relations between Baku and Moscow is important. They also discussed the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

According to the APA agency, Bayramov stated that the interpretation of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty based on the Armenian side's position does not align with the principles enshrined in the treaty of allied cooperation between Moscow and Baku, as highlighted in the Russian Foreign Ministry's statement on July 15.

He also asserted that the installation of the Lachin checkpoint is Azerbaijan's sovereign right and is aimed at preventing illegal activities and ensuring transparency. Bayramov reiterated the suggestion regarding the use of the Agdam road to meet the needs of the Azerbaijani Armenian population, a proposal he had made the previous week.
