Armenian Wrestler Defeats Azerbaijani Opponent and Advances to Semi-Finals at U20 European Championships

At the U20 European Wrestling Championships held in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, Andranik Avetisyan secured his place in the semi-finals by defeating Azerbaijani wrestler Ramik Heybatov with a score of 10:4 in the quarter-finals.

Earlier in the 1/8 finals, he had won decisively against Israeli contender Roni Kolesnik with a score of 10:0.

On this competition day, five wrestlers represented the Armenian national team on the mat. Harutyun Hovhannisyan (57kg), Davit Margaryan (70kg), Narek Grigoryan (79kg), and Gurgen Simonian (97kg) exited in the preliminary rounds. However, if the wrestlers who defeated them reach the finals, our athletes will have the opportunity to compete for bronze medals.
