Date of Yerevan Mayor Election Announced
The Yerevan Council voted 39 in favor, 2 against, and 1 abstention to set the date for the extraordinary mayoral election on April 11 at 10:00 AM.
Member of the 'My Step' faction, Armen Galjyan, announced during the extraordinary session of the Yerevan Council, "Our faction currently has a decision not to elect a new mayor, considering that there are several months left before the elections."
It is noteworthy that the Mayor of Yerevan, Hrachya Sargsyan, had resigned on March 17. He announced this during an extraordinary procedural meeting. "Now, as the council elections are approaching and the cooperation between the government and the city hall is good, I want to announce my resignation; I will continue to be with the political team," Sargsyan stated.
