ICRC Representatives Visit Armenian Detainees
The representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have once again visited Armenian detainees held in Azerbaijan. Zara Amatuni, the head of communication and prevention programs at the ICRC office in Armenia, disclosed this information in an interview with Sputnik Armenia.
“The latest visit took place in early March,” she said.
The ICRC delegates visited those detainees whose existence has been officially acknowledged by the Azerbaijani authorities. Once again, the detainees were given the opportunity to connect with their relatives by sending letters, making phone calls, and engaging in video calls.
It is worth noting that Baku currently confirms the detention of 33 individuals following the 44-day war in 2020. However, the official Yerevan asserts that the actual number is higher. According to human rights defenders, there are 80 individuals currently in Azerbaijani captivity.
