Video: 'It's not a tragedy that Arsen Torosyan doesn't believe me; there are clergymen who don't believe in God' - Pashinyan
In Armenia, there are clergymen who do not believe in God, so it is not a great tragedy when a member of parliament does not believe in the judicial system. This statement was made today by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a press conference when responding to a question regarding the recent posts of National Assembly member and former Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan.
Torosyan, addressing the criminal case against former Deputy Minister of Health and current Deputy Mayor Gevorg Simonian, wrote on his Facebook page on March 11: 'Now I understand why courts often deny motions from pre-investigation bodies: motions of this caliber could not have been granted any other fate.'
In another post, he titled it: 'No good deed goes unpunished, or why the state apparatus doesn't work well.'
Torosyan emphasized that the accusation against Gevorg Simonian is based on assumptions. 'I appreciate Mr. Torosyan's effort to defend a person he worked with, appointed by me but proposed by him, in a difficult situation, trying to draw attention to the necessity of protecting his rights. Morally, I consider this normal. Politically, this is yet another proof of what kind of democratic party 'Civil Contract' is, where there can be different opinions. Legally, the answer to the question will be given by the pre-investigation process, and later by the trial, which is supposed to be public if the case reaches the trial stage,' Pashinyan emphasized.
