The US and Israel Agree to Strengthen Measures Against Iran's Nuclear Weapons
The United States and Israel agreed on Monday to enhance coordination to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. This was stated in a joint announcement issued by the White House regarding the two countries.
The officials expressed great concern about the progress of Iran’s nuclear program and reaffirmed their mutual goal of further strengthening the long-standing security partnership between Israel and the United States. The statement noted efforts to deter the use of nuclear weapons by Iran and its subsequent hostile actions in the region.
This announcement came after a meeting of the US and Israeli strategic advisory group in Washington, attended by US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, Israeli Secretary of Strategic Planning Ron Dermer, and head of the Israeli National Security Council Tzachi Hanegbi.
The discussions also included the results of recent joint military exercises conducted by the US Armed Forces and the Israeli Defense Forces. During the meeting, both sides discussed efforts aimed at further enhancing Israel's security and political integration in the Middle East region.
Sullivan reaffirmed President Biden's unwavering commitment to Israel’s security, as articulated in the joint declaration on the US-Israel strategic partnership, signed during the President's visit to Israel in July 2022.
