There Has Not Been Any Measles Recorded in Our Country for a Long Time. This Should Be a Wake-Up Call. Arsen Torosyan
“In the Republic of Armenia, 11 laboratory-confirmed cases of measles have been recorded. There has not been any measles documented in our country for a long time; a few years ago, there were sporadic cases brought from other countries, which did not spread here thanks to the comprehensive anti-epidemic measures that were implemented.
This should be a wake-up call for all of us to intensify the fight against measles,” wrote Arsen Torosyan, a member of the ‘Civil Contract’ faction in the National Assembly.
Measles is a highly contagious viral disease characterized by rashes, dry cough, fever, and other symptoms. The infection is transmitted through the air. The most vulnerable targets for measles are children, who may develop encephalitis (inflammation and swelling of the brain), which can lead to death.
The only effective preventive measure against measles is vaccination. All those who do not have at least two doses of the measles vaccine should visit their local polyclinic and get vaccinated.”
