Ara Koçunyan on Separate Treatment of the Armenian Community in Turkey
I have no information regarding separate treatment of the Armenian community. Ara Koçunyan, the editor of the 'Zhamanak' newspaper published in Istanbul, stated this to 24News while addressing reports suggesting that the Turkish government is focusing more on Turkish-populated areas in the aftermath of the earthquake.
Koçunyan mentioned that frequent aftershocks have occurred since the earthquake, but the primary issue remains the resettlement of the affected individuals.
“The issues concerning the resettlement of people displaced from the disaster zone and somehow establishing their future lives still persist. If there were issues regarding injured Armenians due to the earthquake, the patriarchate would have informed us; at this time, there is no such issue,” concluded the Istanbul Armenian figure.
