Garik Martirosyan Reveals Why He Left Comedy Club
Heavy workload, great responsibility, and a one-hour show aired every week kept us awake until three in the morning. Showman Garik Martirosyan explained his departure from Comedy Club in this way.
“I was talking to the audience in the hall with Pavel Volya. Then I realized that I was tired. It was not interesting anymore. I went to the bar corner. Then slowly, so the viewers wouldn’t notice, I stepped out of the frame. I was talking off-camera. And then I was liquidated. I don’t want to force myself to joke. What I do has to please me; otherwise, why should I struggle and torture the audience?” Martirosyan stated in an interview with Komsolskaya Pravda.
“The usual structure of Comedy Club was difficult. It was a celebration, a place of dreams, a cauldron of news and events, humor and cynicism; life was bubbling, just like at a festival held in Rio. And when you leave, of course, it feels unusual. But I left because I realized I could no longer do it all.”
“Heavy workload, great responsibility, we aired a one-hour show every week, and we stayed awake until three in the morning. There are always constant problems – lack of materials, someone got sick, guests didn’t come, the editing isn’t ready, they called from above saying we need to review the video about Obama, and so on. There were psychos, neuroses, whims, lack of sleep, and discomfort within the team. All the issues stem from human relationships, childhood complexes, stupidity, and mutual misunderstandings. I was tired. How do I feel without the air? Wonderful. Not a problem at all,” he noted.
