Disney Films and Series to Cease Showings in Russia Starting March
The leadership of the American Disney company intends not to sign new licensing agreements with Russian distributors for the exhibition of films and series. Consequently, in accordance with the provisions of the existing contracts, the company's films and series will cease exhibition in Russia starting in March 2023, reports the newspaper 'Vedomosti.'
In March 2023, Russian video services will terminate licensing agreements for the exhibition of films and series produced by Disney. After the expiration of these contracts, Disney will no longer operate on platforms such as Kinopoisk, Evie, and Okko.
Disney is one of the major foreign companies that have decided to withdraw from the Russian market due to international sanctions. Other companies on this list include Sony Pictures, UPI, and Paramount.
On February 9, the leadership of the American Walt Disney media corporation announced a large-scale restructuring. The company’s plans involve laying off 7,000 employees in an effort to reduce financial expenditures by $5.5 billion.
