Armenia to Prioritize Sending Food and Other Aid to Syria, Says Pashinyan
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a phone conversation with the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Bashar al-Assad. Pashinyan expressed condolences on behalf of himself and the Armenian government to the friendly President of Syria and its people regarding the numerous casualties and destruction caused by the series of earthquakes on February 6.
Nikol Pashinyan wished a swift recovery to all the injured and noted that Armenia is ready to support Syria in alleviating the difficult living conditions of the earthquake-affected population and addressing the consequences of the disaster.
Bashar al-Assad thanked Armenia for its support and mentioned that their primary concern at this time is related to food. An agreement was reached whereby Armenia will prioritize sending food to Syria, as well as other types of aid.
The Syrian President expressed gratitude for the forthcoming assistance and hoped that with the help of the Republic of Armenia, it would be possible to quickly overcome the severe consequences of the earthquake.
