Iran Threatens Pakistan with $18 Billion Lawsuit
The Iranian authorities are prepared to file an $18 billion lawsuit against Pakistan in an international court for delaying the construction of the segment of the "Mire" gas pipeline that connects the neighboring countries, reports Daily Pakistan.
Tehran previously issued an ultimatum to Islamabad in January, stating that the lawsuit would be filed immediately if the Pakistani section of the pipeline is not constructed by February-March 2024.
The Pakistani government had previously informed Iran that it could not continue with the project due to U.S. pressure and anti-Iranian international sanctions; nevertheless, it remains committed to building its section.
