FBI Raided Biden's Former Office in November: WSJ
The Federal Bureau of Investigation raided President Joe Biden's former office at the Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement bearing his name in November. This was reported on Tuesday by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources.
According to the report, the raid was conducted after Biden's aides discovered several classified documents there on November 2. Investigative measures were undertaken with the agreement of representatives from the American administration. There is no information on whether law enforcement found additional documents during the raid, the publication noted.
On January 10, reports emerged regarding the discovery of several classified documents from Biden's vice presidency period at the center named after him. The institution was opened in 2018, and Biden himself worked in that area until his presidential nomination. On January 12, former U.S. Attorney Robert Hur was appointed as special counsel to investigate the mishandling of classified documents by Biden.
As clarified by the minister, his department received information about the discovery of those documents in the office of the analytical center associated with Biden on November 4 of the previous year, and on December 20 of the same year, the department became aware of the existence of such documents.
A similar situation regarding the discovery of former President Donald Trump's official documents became the reason for raids on his estate at Mar-a-Lago on August 8, 2022. Trump claims that there could be no wrongdoing on his part, as he, as president, has the authority to declassify all documents in his possession. An exception would be materials related to nuclear issues, where the president’s declassification powers are limited. These documents, according to The Washington Post, were discovered at Mar-a-Lago.
