Which Regions of Armenia Felt the Strong Earthquake Recorded in Iran and at What Intensity
An earthquake occurred 20 kilometers northeast of the city of Salmas in Iran. On January 18, at 14:08 local time, the seismic protection territorial service of Armenia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations recorded a 5.6 magnitude earthquake with a focus depth of 10 kilometers.
The intensity of the underground tremor in the epicentral zone reached 8 points on the scale. The earthquake was felt with an intensity of 3-4 points in the Syunik and Vayots Dzor regions, and with an intensity of 2-3 points in the Ararat and Armavir regions, as well as in the city of Yerevan.
